If you limit yourself just to what you see when you pose in the mirror, you see yourself as more attractive than you are. The assistant combing her hair sees a totally different view. She sees the knots in the hair and the falling jaw line that does not appear in the selected view of the mirror, but she has been schooled to say nothing.
